I have integrated my learnings of the literature into a presentation.

My key learnings about the literature review include:

1. The literature review must be structured systematically, either chronologically or thematically.

2. The sources of evidence must be valid and verifiable.

3. A referencing manager or database is necessary from the inception of your literature.

4. It is important for your literature review to identify gaps in evidence and to contribute to the rationale of your study.

5. The literature review takes time and lots of reading.

6. References need to be less than 5 years old (if possible) in order to present a current synthesis of available evidence.

7. Referencing should be consistent.

8. Literature is an important source of information for the reader.

9. The literature establishes rapport between the author and the reader.

10. The literature review is a constantly evolving part of the protocol and final dissertation.
